Moyes signs Italian striker from Serie A

West Ham United have signed 23-year-old Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca from Serie A club Sassuolo on a five-year deal. Athletic have revealed that Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca flew to London on Monday night ahead of a medical, and the 23-year-old has already completed a 30.5 million PS transition. The Hammers have agreed to pay an initial £30.5m and an additional £5m for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic can play as either a left winger or a left back, and West Ham boss David Moyes took a close look at Kostic last season when Eintracht Frankfurt beat West Ham in the European Conference League semi-finals. The manager expected the striker to bolster a side that reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season and finished seventh in the Premier League to secure a spot in the Europa Conference League.

Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca is the fourth West Ham player in the summer transfer window after signing defender Nayef Aguerd, midfield Flynn Downes and goalkeeper Alphonse Francis Areola. Italian striker Gianluca Scamaca spent time at the academy at Lazio and Roma before moving to PSV Eindhoven, where he spent 18 months returning to Italy to join Sassuolo.

Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, who is now shining for Sassuolo, is seen not only as a striker around which Italy should build the Italian attack but also as someone who can command the ball over 40 meters because he can only Zlatan’s heir Ibrahimovic. Lazio, Roma, PSV, Sassuolo, Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli, and Genoa are among the clubs involved. This is hardly the typical life path for one of Italy’s most promising young footballers. But Gianluca Scamacca isn’t your specific player. Six foot five inches high (or 1.96m if you work that way), tattooed up to his neck, and from an intriguing family.

He looks ready for the next step at twenty-three years old and has completed his finest season to date – 0.67 goals per ninety minutes. While Scamacca’s height and physique suggest that he is a central striker, he is truly a much more flexible player. He’s a willing runner who’s not hesitant to work in the channels or drop deeper to catch the ball.

The Italian is an expert with the football at his feet. Scamacca has played chiefly for teams towards the bottom of the league, which may not have highlighted his ability in the best light, but it has helped him evolve as a player. For example, he is an excellent player to play long balls into because the ball adheres to him, allowing him to retain the ball, lift his head up, and alleviate pressure on his defence.
