Cult hero admits West Ham exit had ‘re-energised’ him

There is no doubt about it. Winston Reid is a cult hero and will perhaps go down with a legendary status for fans at West Ham United.

Of course, his career at the club has been blighted with injuries, however the New Zealand international defender has come up trumps on more than a few occasions when he has been able to perform and will go down in history for a number of heroics.

The goal against Millwall and the winner against Manchester United in the final match ever to be played at Upton Park before moving to the London Stadium in the 3-2 thriller will go down in history as one of the greatest moments to have ever happened for West Ham fans.

However, there have been a number of issues over the last three years in regards to injury, that has meant he has not been able to play for the Hammers, despite having been handed a 6-year year contract back in August 2017. For returns like that when betting, using toponlinecasinos online casino should certainly be considered!

Admittedly, he has been out on loan in the MLS with Sporting Kansas City and things started to look on the up once again as he proved key for the franchise. Upon his return to London, many were speculating as to whether he would feature as part of David Moyes’ plans moving forward.

The final day of the January transfer window provided us with that answer, which was a resounding no.

The Kiwi has since departed – on yet another loan – as he has made the short trip across London and teamed up with Brentford as they look to try and finally secure promotion to the Premier League themselves; something those that like using a high roller casino will hope can finally happen if they have bets placed on that outcome.

Reid appears to have been delighted with the move to the Championship club as well, as he spoke to their official website and admitted that he felt he was in a better position following his loan spell in the MLS and that he was looking forward to doing his best for the Bees over the next few months.

“Listen I’m really happy to be here, it’s just nice to come out here and be involved in a new environment and I’m just looking forward to it really,” Reid told Brentford’s website.

“I’ll come here, be a part of it, help out where I can and hopefully help to get the club promoted.

“Obviously the injury that I had took a lot longer time than both myself and the club (West Ham) would have wanted, but that’s part of life and you move forward and I’m happy to be here and just looking forward to it really.

“It’s going to be nice to come back here (England) and play. Obviously I had to go away for the last year. I enjoyed my time in America, it was with a really good group and club there. I came back and felt re-energised and I’m just looking forward to it.”

Of course, West Ham fans everywhere will be wishing him well and will be watching closely to see if their cult hero is still the player he was and perhaps whether he could still play a role for them in the future.
